Blippar Launches Indoor Visual Positioning System To Anchor AR

In order for augmented reality (AR) to offer any sort of reliable overly for physical reality, then there needs something that needs to anchor it into place.

One example includes GPS positioning that is employed to tether a Pokemon object to a specific physical spot.  But GPS positioning can be off by several feet or meters.  Indoor reception can be a worse proposition for retailers.

But the AR/computer vision firm Blippar has released an indoor version of its urban visual positioning  According to Blippar, it is a more reliable tether for AR than other indoor systems. The company, based in New York City and London, says it is the first to provide “an easy and end-to-end solution” to the problem of anchoring AR.
