    Adding the ValueTrack Tracking Template in Google Ads


    1Sign into your Google Ads account.

    2Click "Settings" in the left menu. Select "Account Settings".

    3Click "Tracking". Under Tracking Template, add {lpurl}?campaign={campaignid}&content={creative}&keyword={keyword} inside the text box.

    Click "Save".

    Note: Tracking Templates can be applied at the following levels within Google Ads:

    • Account level applies the tracking template to all campaigns and ads within the account.
    • Campaign level applies the tracking template to all ads under the campaign. Campaign level tracking takes precedent over account level templates.
    • Ad level applies the tracking template to individual ads. Ad level tracking takes precedent over account and campaign level templates.

    ValueTrack is a time saver that uses tracking templates to add marketing data to your ad clicks. These templates can be added at Account, Campaign or Ad Level and work with WhatConverts.

    Before we show you some examples, it helps to know that {lpurl} means landing page URL.

    Example ValueTrack templates:

    This template simply tracks the Keyword that triggers your ad:
    {lpurl}?keyword={keyword}

    This template also includes your Campaign ID, and Creative ID as well as the Keyword:
    {lpurl}?campaign={campaignid}&content={creative}&keyword={keyword}

    Implementing ValueTrack Templates

    Tracking templates are where you enter your tracking information and tell Google Ads how to assemble your URLs. Now, if you’d like to scale your tracking updates across multiple URLs, you can use a shared tracking template at the account, campaign or ad group level. If you’d prefer to manage your URL tracking information at the individual URL level, you can use a tracking template at the ad, keyword, or site link level to have it send information to WhatConverts.

    Templates can be applied at the following levels within Google Ads:

    • Account level applies the tracking template to all campaigns and ads within the account.
    • Campaign level applies the tracking template to all ads under the campaign. Campaign level tracking takes precedent over account level templates.
    • Ad level applies the tracking template to individual ads. Ad level tracking takes precedent over account and campaign level templates.

    Create an Account-Level Tracking Template

    1Sign into your Google Ads account.

    2Select “All Campaigns” on the top left side of the interface.

    3Click on “Settings” on the bottom left side of the menu.

    4Select the “Account Settings” tab from the two tabs that appear at the top of the page.

    5Choose the “Tracking” option and below Tracking Template, add {lpurl}?campaign={campaignid}&content={creative}&keyword={keyword} inside the text box. click “Save“.
